About Dr. Carli Kody
Carli's professional background includes over 19 years of counseling, teaching, and research experience. Carli has provided psychological services for adolescents and adults in a variety of settings including the VA Medical Center, medical clinics, university counseling centers, community mental health centers, and The Emily Program, a world-renowned eating disorder treatment center. She has also taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses at universities and a local community college. In January 2015, she founded her current private practice where she sees clients, teaches classes and workshops, and develops talks and programs, which she leads in the larger Twin Cities community. In support of her local community, she volunteers as a member of the Suicide Prevention Collaborative (SPC).
Education
Carli earned a doctorate in counseling psychology from the University of Minnesota in 2008 and a master's degree in counseling from the University of Minnesota in 2002. Her doctoral training included an American Psychological Association (APA) accredited predoctoral internship at the University of Southern California and a postdoctoral fellowship at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, CA. She completed bachelor's degrees in Psychology, Women's Studies, and German at St. Olaf College.
Carli is a Certified Daring Way™ Facilitator (CDWF), with Dr. Brené Brown's organization, The Daring Way™. She is also a Trained Teacher of Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), trained through the Center for Mindful Self-Compassion at the University of California - San Diego Center for Mindfulness.
